November Cakes

I had two cakes in November.

My son wanted a Minecraft Birthday Party, so I created a Creeper cake.

It was a strawberry cake covered in strawberry buttercream.  I made green fondant, and then made small squares out of different colors of green and black.  I used my letter fondant cutters to cut out Happy Birthday!

The next cake was a request for my yearly customer that I have in November.  They went in a totally different direction this year.  They wanted a dragon cake.  They wanted a real looking  dragon.  So, they sent me some pictures for inspiration.  It is a strawberry cake covered in buttercream.  I airbrushed blue as my background.  I then drew on the outline of the dragon and then filled the outline with piping.  I smoothed that down with a paper towel.  Next, I took food coloring and directly applied in to areas to give it a little bit of depth.  Here is the final result.

Squirrelly Birthday

Welcome!

Todays card is a birthday card I created for my Dad's birthday. He has a pecan orchard so I immediately thought of a card with a pesky squirrel on it. It even has a mini pecan on it from the orchard.

Here Piggy, Piggy!

Welcome!

Today's card was made for a special Arkansian. My coworker grew up in Arkansas, and she loves the Razorbacks, but we give her a hard time that they are just piggies. So, I made her a piggy card.

Ruffles Have Ridges

Ok! So, these ruffles don't have ridges, but I couldn't resist. This card was made for my Grandma who turned 84 on the 3rd. Happy Birthday Grandma! Everything was from Close To My Heart except the ribbon. That's just some I had in my stash.

Also, couldn't resist showing off pics of my adorable kiddos in their Easter getups.

HB2U

Wow, Just seem to be making Birthday card after Birthday card here lately! This one is one of the ones I made for the February Birthday's that I forgot to post. All paper and ink is Close To My Heart, and the stamps were some I picked up at Michael's. I used decorative scissors to create a 'ribbon' strip across the card to seperate the top section from the bottom section. Hope you like it!

Another "H"appy Birthday!

I made another birthday card this week. This one went to my sister-in-law. I know it looks kind of boyish, but I saw a layout in one of my books, and I went with it. It turned into this card. All products are Close To My Heart except the brads. Hope you like it!

Make a Wish

When I was thinking of this card, I wanted to do a white base with a little splash of color. I didn't want to make it girly because I have two guys I have to make cards for. I think it turned out ok. Hope you like it. I used cardstock from my stash, stamps and ink from Close To My Heart and the stars are cut out of Close To My Heart patterned paper.

PTI Color Challenge

Over at PTI Nichole is having another challenge. This time the Design Team members picked their favorite color combos, and you needed to pick one or all of the combos to create a project. I chose Dawn Mcvey's color favorites.

I then came up with a fun card using mostly Close To My Heart supplies. Hope you like it.

You still have time to play along. The contest doesn't end until tomorrow morning.

Couldn't Resist

That is I couldn't resist trying the emboss resist technique contest that Nichole Heady over at Papertreyink is throwing. If you create a embossed resist project and post a link to it on her website you have a chance at winning an amazing prize from PTI. Don't delay though because you only have until tomorrow morning to link it to her website.

Here is my creation. We have several birthdays in February in our family so you will be seeing a lot of cards in my next few post. If you see something that you might like to try at a workshop let me know.

Cardstock and ribbon are stuff I had in my stash. Ink, stamps and bling are from Close To My Heart.

Birthday Flower Card

I am not doing so well on my resolution to post new messages to my blog every week, but I will try my best to definitely post more than I did last year. For starters, here is a card I made using cardstock, stamps and ink from Close To My Heart, patterned paper from Michael's (not sure the company), embossing powder, and I can't remember what the little baubles are called. Anyway I hope you like it. Until next time.

Hip Hip Hooray, It's a Birthday Card

Hi there! Just wanted to post a cute birthday card I made for my niece whose birthday is in May. I have no idea what company any of the paper is from. The ink and stamp is from CTMH. My niece has a stuffed hippo that she carries around a lot, and the cake is going to be a hippo. So, I thought it would be perfect to make a hippo card. I pretty much cased this hippo card over on the Share ~ Inspire ~ Create blog. I just used different paper, and changed my hippo up a bit. Let me know what you think.

Here is a close up of the hippo.
