Refurbished Frame

I originally got the frame at a white elephant Christmas party. I knew I wouldn't used it as it was.



So, I decided to repaint it by doing something with the tons of scrapbook paper I have.



This ended up being a present for my sister-in-law, and I think she actually liked it. I was a little worried since it was homemade.

Deets ~ I put painters tape around the edges of the frame because I liked the worn detail on the edges. I then spray painted the frame with brown paint. I then handcut all the letters and flowers because I don't have a die cut machine of any kind. For this I simply reversed the letters in a word program on my pc and printed them on the backside of the scrapbook paper, and then cut them out. I then used Mod Podge to paste the words and flowers onto the frame. I put a layer Mod Podge over the whole thing, and called it done. For some reason the lettering looks way crooked on the bottom row in the picture. I don't think it's that crooked in real life.

Ornaments atop a tree

Santa made the kiddos ornaments this year. Normally the kiddos get ornaments in their stockings, but I think the elves have made them in the past. This year I think the big man himself, or at least Mrs. Claus, made the ornaments.




They look to be made out of felt, Wunder Under, batting and thread. I found a tutorial I bet Santa used over at the Made blog.

Letter to Santa

I have had this chalkboard finished for a couple of month's now. I used it in my fall decor and now I am using it in my Christmas decor. I made it so that we could use it as a message board when the kids get older. We got the frame at a neighbor's garage sale for 50 cents. The glass was broke and there was a drawing in the frame, but I just wanted it for the frame anyway.



Deets~I bought a board at Lowe's cut to fit the frame and painted it with chalkboard paint. I then cleaned off the old paint on the frame, and spray painted it with a red color. Then, I hot glued the board to the frame. I love how it turned out.

Baby Boy's 3rd Birthday

Baby Boy's Birthday was just before Thanksgiving. I would have posted this sooner, but I couldn't find the camera. You know how that goes.

We had a John Deere theme, and we had the party at Nana and Papa's house.

I made a simple sheet cake and covered it with royal icing. I then took at toothpick and drew and outline of a tractor on the cake. I then lined my drawing with black icing. I thinned the icing down after that and flooded the body of the tractor. It was a whole lot easier than piping stars on the cake.



I also made a three shirt. I simply took some Wonder Under, and drew a three backwards on it. I then ironed that on to my material. After that was ironed on to the material, I peeled the paper backing off and ironed it onto the shirt. Nana went around it with some thread to give it a decorative edge.



This is of baby boy blowing out the candles. I can't believe he has gotten so big.

I will post better pics of the cape when the kiddos are not asleep.

Pulling Into The Station - Craft Stop

I am back with another installment of Blog Spot. These are some blogs that I frequent often to can inspiration for crafts. I will be having a few of my own pretty soon.

Pulling Into The Station - Food Stop

Welcome to the first post on blogs I love. This weeks addition is all about some food blogs I love visiting.

This first one is all about cupcakes. For the last year or so I have been really crazy about cupcakes. This site features cupcakes from bakers all over the country. You can't help but smile when you see all the cupcake goodness. Please go to Cupcakes Take the Cake.

Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween!

Hope you all had a fun and spooky time yesterday. I wanted to share some of the treats I made for our festivities yesterday.

First off I made some mummy dogs.



Deets~ All you do for these, is take crescent rolls and cut them into strips. Then, wrap this around your hot dogs and cook according to directions on crescent can.

Next up are bones.



Deets~ For these I took some store breadsticks rolled them out and twisted knots in the end. I then brushed some butter on them, and sprinkled parmesan cheese on them before baking. I baked them according to the directions on the breadsticks can.

Next up are my desserts.

I first made monster fingers.



Deets~ I melted candy melts and almond bark and dipped nutter butters in them. While, they were still soft I stuck candy in one end for a nail.

I then made eyeballs.



Deets~ For these, I melted almond bark and dipped vanilla wafers in it. While they were still wet, I stuck a chocolate chip in the center. I let them harden then I put some green candy melts in a ziplock bag and snipped the end off. I put the green around the chocolate chip to make it look like an eery eye. You could go one step further and paint on red streaks with food coloring to make the eyes look blood shot, but I didn't have time to do that.
